START SMART T-BALL is a developmentally appropriate introductory baseball program for children 3 and 4 years old. The program prepares children for organized t-ball, baseball and softball in a fun non-threatening environment without the worry of competition or the fear of getting hurt. It is a parent/guardian participation program. Every child must have a partner. Siblings over 13 may also help. Because this is a partnership program, teammate requests are not taken for this division. Age appropriate equipment is used in teaching throwing, catching, batting, running and agility. It is a clinic/instruction based program with light game play as the season progresses.

Schedule info: Each Start Smart session will be maxed at 20 participants and will follow the same instruction. This group will meet once a week on Saturday mornings at Memorial Fields near Burns School for 45 minutes. Register for the session that works best for your schedule – session options are at either 9AM, 10AM, or 11AM. Season dates are April 12th (Picture Day) through June 7th. There will be no session on Saturday, April 19th or April 26th due to school vacation.

Start Smart T-Ball registration fee: $60.00 Residents & $65.00 for Non-Residents

Instruction at this level involves hitting from a tee, throwing, catching, and running bases. The T-ball instructional format will accommodate every player’s experience and skill level. This is the unique opportunity that T-ball provides, allowing coaches to tailor the experience to each player’s ability level. As examples, players who are new to T-ball, or who still feel more comfortable using the tee will use the tee until they are ready to advance; players who have previous experience and are ready to move to coach-pitch will do so.

Instructional T-Ball teams will have one weeknight practice per week on Tuesday or Thursday evening. Please note that registering for the "Tuesday or Thursday" option means your child could be assigned to either day. All practices will take place between 5:00 and 7:00pm at Saco Middle School. All games will be played on Saturdays at Memorial Fields behind C.K. Burns School. Season dates are April 12th through June 7th. Picture day is Saturday, April 12th. There will be no practices or games during school vacation. Game schedules will be posted to our "Rosters/Schedules" page at a later date.


T-Ball Division registration fee: $60.00 for Residents & $65.00 for Non-Residents

Participants should have their own catching gloves. We will provide all other necessary equipment. For those that would prefer to provide their own helmets and bats, families are responsible for monitoring use of personal equipment during practice if they are not intended to be shared.
