Lego Engineers & Beyond - Junior Engineers
Program InfoSaco Parks and Recreation is excited for the return of Lego Robotics and Engineering! This fall, we are offering two different sessions designed for specific grades featuring age-appropriate activities and equipment for Engineers in 1st through 5th grade. All Engineers will operate the Lego Spike Essential & Prime Systems and the Lego Mindstorm Systems. With these products, the Engineers will learn about simple machines, gears, and basic robotics coding. Not only will the Engineers play with Lego, but they will also practice Teamwork, Brainstorming, Experimentation & Hypothesis - all essential skills of STEM work! Our hope for this Lego Engineers Program is that there will be a 4-week session registration available four times per school year. We ask that your child register for a maximum of 2 sessions per school year so that we can serve as many Lego Robotics Engineers as we can. Registrations will be monitored by the SPR Office. Wait listed participants who are not added to the session will be offered a spot in the next session. Tentative dates for Sessions 2-3 this school year: Session One: starting November 12, 2024 Session Two: starting in February 2025 Session Three: starting in April 2025

SPR Teen Place: Friday Trips - Portland ME Walkabout
SPR is excited to launch our 2024/2025 Friday Trip Schedule for SPR Teen Place this fall. This program is designed for all students in grades 6th through 8th. On Fridays, SPR Teen Place will be offering an outing or trip for an additional cost. See the activities below for all trips offered during our 2024/2025 session! Trip sessions start at 5:00PM with all participants arriving to the Saco Community Center at 75 Franklin Street to check-in before departure. Pick up times at SPR will be updated for each trip depending on event schedules and will be emailed to families.Membership is required - click here for the Teen Place membership page. You must sign up in advance for all trips you plan on attending. Registration for each trip will be available until 1PM on the day of the trip unless an earlier deadline is noted or until all seats are filled.

Saco Parks and Recreation is excited to offer a new Game Club! Each week with an emphasis on a new game while other card and board games will still be available to play. The program is designed to help develop learning/critical thinking skills and sportsmanship through game play of winning and losing.
